5 Great Strategies to Financing Your New Car

Buying a car can be a risky business and you can find yourself in a trap. Use these strategies to educate yourself during your car buying experience.

Shop around.

To find the best financing, shop around. Do not go with the first offer you get. Go to another dealership and find out their rates as well. Compare as many car loan quotes as you can. You can save a lot of time researching quotes of interest rates online and it’s free. If lenders are checking your credit as you search for the best option, know that it can harm your credit report and credit score, so just be aware.

Compare Dealerships.

Interest rates can vary significantly, so compare the rates given by your dealership. Check out the bank rates, credit unions, and other loan stores before you make a decision.

Length of Loan.

Keep your loan length as short as you can. The shorter the loan, the less interest you are going to pay. 4 or 5 year loans will end up costing you more in interest than a 2 or 3 year loan.

Payments.

Try your best to stay with in your monthly budget, but pay off the loan as soon as you can. Even if you make one or two extra payments a year, the length of your loan will decrease significantly, sometimes years less. Also, consider paying a larger down payment. Most lenders require some sort of down payment. You will pay less interest in the duration of the loan if you make a large down payment at the time of purchase

Get Pre-approved.

Decide which automobile you want to buy and take the information to a lender. Some lenders will be able to get you pre-approved for a loan and allow you to take a check from your loan and use it as cash for your car. Many dealerships will reduce the price if paying with cash up front.
